Monsoon Sailing School
Dakshy has just returned from the Monsoon Sailing School! The event was organized by my company (and me) at Putrajaya Martitime Centre. It was a beautiful place wei! Really! The landscape, the view, the interior designing, everything was superb!
The event went extremely well too. The participants were very nice people, the weather was very friendly, the VIPs turned up, I didnt miss out anything I was supposed to do. Yup, it was an awesome event (and my first one too!)
I met a whole lotta people there too.. from our internal coaches to our inhouse yacht manager to Astro crew to the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports to the chairman of the Monsoon Cup to a lot of people la. Can't be listing each and everyone of them. :P
Anyhow, all's good and over. Now, I'm back to the office... Safe and sound.
Oh yes!! And note to all:
I have been accepted into IMU!!
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

The Weather
the alarm rings.. snooze 1.. snooze 2.. stop alarm 20 mins later.. lift head from pillow.. take a deep breath.. open the blanket to face the window... no sunlight.. drop head back to the pillow, pull back blanket and sleep.
wake up 15 minutes later to realise that i'm fucking late for work.
This is how it has been for over a week now. The weather is so bloody gloomy every morning! The haze has completely blocked the sunlight to reach the surface of the earth! Do you know how it feels to walk out of home or to look out the window??
- It looks like its gonna rain at all times and I end up taking my umbrella everywhere I go, BUT it won't rain.
- When you take a deep breath, you end up choking rather than feeling refreshed.
- If you're out for more than 1 hour, your eyes begin to tear and you just wanna get back indoors.
- Its so friggin hard to wake up every morning as it just looks so gloomy and sleep comes pulling you back to the bed.
- When you sweat, the droplets just stick to your body and makes you feel sticky rather than evaporating and making you feel comfortable again.
- Headaches come more often than the happy jumpy feeling.
So yea. Life gets very badly affected when the weather turns its ass on us.
The August Babies
The next time I see Rebecca, Siewie and Jie Lee, they're all gonna get it from me! One on the right cheek and one on the left.
Why??
Well, I have been sending out emails to them and NO replies!! Planning a sleep over isnt very easy if your girlfriends dont reply and decisions cant be made you know. :(
The current plan for the sleep over is...
Friday, 28th August
We meet up at one spot and drive to Pei Yi's college in Kota Damansara.
Hang out there and spend some time in her college.
Leave the college and come back to KL to hang out somewhere.
Go back to my house to park the bags and go out for dinner.
Saturday, 29th August
We wake up laaaaaaaaaaaaaaate.
Go out for breakfast (if its still btreakfast time) and hang out the whole day.
At about 8 something, we get to a club and start the clubbing session that'll go on all night.
Sunday, 30th August
We wake up laaaaaaaaaaaaaate again.
Amble out of bed and get ready to pack up and leave.
Have lunch and depart to respective homes.
And THAT would be the plan for the sleep over. Simple and easy.
Supplies needed for sleep-over:
Clothes
Abundant supply of food!!
Car - 2 units (or 1 unit will be good too, if squeezing is okay)
Cash
Yeap and that would be all the Sleep Over 2009, in conjunction of the August Babies' Birthdays.
A-Level Results
My results are coming out!!!! Oh lord, please bless my soul!
My A-Levels that I completed in June 2009 have been analysed and marked by examiners in the UK. Thus, the results are being released on the 11th of August 2009.
Yeap, the ultimate result for a 2 year course that i slogged and completed. It will therefore be determining my life on the 11th, which is next week Tuesday.
And Yoga has been scheduled for a trip to Jakarta for 6 days on the 9th of August. He'll be coming back only on the 14th.

duke, the german shepherd
But now I do!!
Duke!
Duke is my 5month old German Shepherd, who I spend most of my time with. We bought him recently to guard my mom's shop in Bangsar since the break-in rate is really high there. He's such a darling and he's very attached to me. :)
Here are a few photos of him..
at the entrance of my mom's shop
Yoga, Duke and IEvery morning, I would go over to my mom's shop, feed him milk, play with him for a while and go off to work. The reason why I have to go over every morning is because nobody else can handle him and put him into his cage. After work, I'll take him for a walk , play with him for a while and feed him dinner. He'll be left behind in the shop at night to guard the place.
He's such a darling but as days go by, he's growing rapidly and whenever he jumps on me to show his excitement, I feel like the weight of the whole word has landed on my chest and just pushing me down. So yea. Its not a very nice feeling. However, he's very obidient if not for the jumping. :)
Sleep Over 2009
Yeap, that's right. We're gonna have the second sleep over this August. It's gonna be just like the one last year BUT this time I'm gonna try my level best to have the clubbing session that we couldn't have last year. :) I have to make it work. My friends and I have not been clubbing since the time we turned 18 you know. I mean, we've all been separately, but not together! I have a number of places that will be perfect to hang out. The biggest problem though, is getting the permission from mom. *sigh*

from office
Why today after all days have i decided to blog? Well, that would be beacuse, Mira, who i work for is off today. That would mean that I don't have much work to do. :( And her other friend, Michelle, who is in PR too, is off. So, I'm all alone in PR department, with absolutely nothing to do. I was initially reading some stuff about the Monsoon Cup to know how it actually works, but I got bored within the first 10minutes. So, i have post-poned the reading and understanding the Monsoon Cup session. :)
Siewie, Shiva and many other people have been asking me how has my work been and what do i actually do. Since i never really had the time to answer their questions, I guess I'm gonna explain it today, here.
I work for T-Best Events Sdn. Bhd.. We are the organizers for the Monsoon Cup, which is actually a sailing competition that is somewhat like that World Cup for Sailing. The finals is usually held here, in Terengganu, Malaysia. Since the Monsoon Cup is only in December every year, we also host events that are related to the Monsoon Cup to promote the Monsoon Cup and give some credit to the sponsors of the Monsoon Cup such as, VW, Ri-Yaz Heritage & Spa Resort, ASTRO and many more.
Mira is actually the Events Manager, here in T-Best. And i work under her. I basically do documentation for her as she needs to concentrate more on the hands-on things with the sponsors and all. So, i prepare reports, minutes of meetings and all that. I also do some filing now and then, whenever it involves the PR Department. I was also told by Mira that I will be going to Terengganu now and then to manage some things during the event.
So yea. That's basically what I do.
People in the Office
The office is actually a conner-lot house in Bangsar. So, we're all not really far far away and require the phone to intercom to speak to each other. Our tables are all very nearby. This would mean that we don't really have much communication barriers. I knew most of them in the office within the second day in office itself. :) They're really nice people. I really like the environment here. But i dread it when Mira AND Michelle are not here. I feel kinda lonely because everybody's doing their work and talking to those around them and I'm not because the ones around me are absent.
*sigh*
However, I'm gonna be spending most of my time today by watching movies, facebook-ing and reading about the Monsoon Cup. I have a string of movies to watch! Hehehe.
What a fantastic employee I am. :)
Transformers!!!
I watched the first show of Transformers 2 day before yesterday!! Muahahahaha! And the movie is fantastic people! It was taken very well, though it was a little bit draggy towards the end, the graphics, story and dialogues were truly fantastic! I watched the movie with a big group of Yoga's friends (15 of us). Not a very big group though, but it was fun!
Dev from India
My mom's really close friend from Bombay, India sent her son, Dev, who is 18 this year, for a stay in my place for one week from the 28th of June. I'm so excited! The last time we hung out was when I was 15, when he came over to Malaysia. He's really fun to be with. And since I haven't been having much fun recently, I guess hanging out with him will be quite enjoyable.
Duke, The German Shepard
Since the break-ins in Bangsar is really high, Yoga and my mom decided to get a dog to guard the place at night. And we got a pure breed German Shepard! Oh my God! He's so adorable, yet fierce. :) He's only attached to me, Yoga and my dad. He's closer to me though because i see him every morning, evening and night. And I'm the one who gives him his meals. hehe. So yea. He's damn cute and he's only 3 months old. But trust me, he isnt as small as you would expect a normal 3 month old puppy would be. He's quite big and will grow to a substantial height when he's fully matured. His name is Duke, by the way. We named him.
We play every evening and really look forward to seeing each other the next day. You must see how excited he gets as soon as he sees me first thing in the morning, when i come over to give him milk. He runs to me and never lets me go. He somehow or other does not realise how big sized he is, when he jumps on me. I literally fell the other day when he pounced on me. But I didnt feel much of the pain when i realised that the reason why he jumped on me was because he wanted to lick me. Haha. He's damn cute wei.
I shall upload some photos of him in my next post.

exams and so much more
my finals are going on now. it started on the 18th of May and will be ending on the 8th of June. i simply cant wait!! my 1 and a 1/2 years of studying in MAHSA is finally gonna end! words cant express how happy i am right now you know.
anyways, lemme give you a summary of my papers that i have sat for..
18th May - Mechanics (math)
this paper is something like physics where we do calculations of forces, energy and stuff like that.
the paper was fantastic though! :) it was quite simple as i did quite a lot of preparation for it before the exam.
estimated result : A
29th May - Biology (paper 4)
this paper is exactly like our biology paper 2 in SPM. we've got 8 structure questions and 2 essay questions. quite a challenging paper. since i went for tuition lessons with a really good lecturer, the paper seemed quite friendly. i could attempt most of the questions and the essay question was god sent. :))))
estimated result : A
29th May - Maths (pure)
this paper is something like additional mathematics paper 2 in SPM. as much as math is my most favourite subject and all that, i was shit scared of this paper and true enough, it was minblowingly tough! arrrrggghhh! seriously wei. each and every question was so challenging. i really dunno how i am gonna fair in it. i have NOT sat for such a tough paper in my life wei. haiyooooooo..
estimated result : B
3rd June - Chemistry (paper 4)
one of my favourite subject's paper would be this chemitry paper. it was very fun to do. though there were tough parts in the paper, most of the questions were very familiar and friendly upon completing the past years. and the best part about this paper was that all the challenging questions were given very little marks. so, even if i could not score for all those questions, my ass is still saved. :)
estimated result : A
5th June - Biolgy (paper 5)
8th June - Chemistry (paper 5)
these papers are like science paper 3 that we do in SPM. it mostly involves the planning of experiments and evaluating the results obtained. i'm quite weak in these papers, but hopefully, after doing all the past years and stuff, i get good results for it.
that would be all the papers. on the 8th of June, from 3.30pm onwards, i will be freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
no more A-levels,
no more studying and
no more MAHSA!
whoop-de-doo!!
money money money
i'll be starting my Pharmacy programme in IMU in Jan 2010. the course seems to be quite costly. so, to help my mom out financially, i have decided to get a job. i thought of saving some money, so that i can finance myself in Scotland.
miraka, who's currently working in Tbest Events, needs an assistant to help her out with some documentation and stuff. when i told her that i was gonna look for a job during my 6-months break, she appointed me staright away. also, her company organizes the Monsoon Cup every year, that'll mean that i'll be involved in that too. :)
job search, done!
however, i have got an interview to attend before i get the job. and that interview will be on the 9th of June. just as i was a little relaxed that it was gonna be miraka who'll be interviewing me, i got to know that miraka's BOSS will be the interviewier. crap.
i have not been for an interview before in my life, and this is gonna be my first. i'm kinda nervous about it. guess who's gonna give me lessons on 'how to make the interview successful'?
YOGA
yup, its gonna be him. you may wonder why i chose him. trust me, it isnt only because he's my boyfriend, but also because his success rates in interviews in too close to 100%. yep. every company that interviews him, wants him in their company. that would be because of..1. he's certs and stuff are bloody good
2. he has handled quite a lot of happening projects with big-timers
and most of all...
3. he's bloody smooth with his words
and the number 3 is what i wanna get hold off before i go for this interview. i dont really have a good record of capturing someone with my words. appearance, yes. (haha) so yea. i'm gonna have a crash course with Yoga before i attend this interview. oh yea, i just remembered something else i have to do.
learn what the Monsoon Cup is about and not conclude that the sailors go round and round for absolutely no reason.
saturday, the 13th of June
i have planned to meet up my friends, siewie, koo, pei yi, mei kay and becca for lunch as my life-taking exams would have ended by then. its been really long since i've caught up with them. and hopefully they'll all be free for the meet-up session.

when the time table is screwed up...
when the time table is screwed up, what do normal people do??
(a) moan about it all the time
(b) skip classes that do not favour their comfort
(c) talk to their lecturers to alter the timing
but, what do i do about it??
look at the bright side and not bother.
my classes are okayyy on monday, tuesday and thursday but its a little screwed up on wednesday. that would be because i only have one chemistry class from 9 - 10am and another chemistry class at 3 - 4pm. and absolutely nothing in between. most of them are dreading it, but i'm simply enjoying it.
why you ask??
well, i have 5 hours in between to do my own revision and drop by to see my Yoga for lunch at his office. *wink*
(this is what i meant by looking at the bright side)
so yea. since today is wednesday, i was about to do exactly what i had planned to do but Yoga's kinda busy. so, i guess its just gonna be the revision part. :(
internet
the internet connection in malaysia sucks BIG TIME!!! trust me, if a streamyx guy is reading this blog right now, i have got something to say..
"improve your bloody internet connection and stop making our lives miserable! if tmnet is just so stupid that they dont know how to make a broadband system that does not malfunction at least once a week, import experts and get them to do the freaking job! one more thing, when we call to make a complain or to ask some questions, PICK UP THE FUCKING PHONE!!"
do you know that my internet connection in my mom's place and my home were both down at the same time?? how do you expect us to use the internet la?! when we call them, they'll tell us that there's no problem with the phone line, call the technical services and they'll help you out. and when we call the technical services, they dont pick up the phone. they'll just keep us on hold for hours!
you tell me if i'll get irritated?!
okay fine, if we dont bother calling and go straight to tmnet, they'll ask us to carry out a few tasks and guarantee that the internet will work after that. YET it wont work. they just wont come over and fix the stupid thing themselves. haiyoooo. if i ever get hold of these people ah, trust me, i'll butcher them into small pieces, pour petrol on the pieces, set it on fire and once the fire has subsided, i'll pee on it.
that's really how annoyed i am. i actually have to use the internet in my college, which blocks most of the interactive pages to check my mails and stuff.
ish!

from the library once again..
oh dear lord, why did you create human beings who have sufficient brain cells to invent something called 'examinations'??? why why oh why??
i really cant stand the stress of exams.. really. as much as the beautiful thought of having ONLY 3 weeks to spend in this college till i'm completely done is dancing in my head, exam stress and preparations keep pounding into me! damn bad shape la. its that whole SPM feeling again you know. where you cant watch a movie, hang out with your friends, have looooong lunches, go for a date with your bf without feeling GUILTY!!
aaaaaaaaaaaargh!!
it's not that i hate studying or the chapters are tough you know, its just that quizzical feeling whether you've studied enough to be able to face the examination and know that you can score good results. and trust me, my college isnt really a place you'll be willing to spend another 6 months willingly just to score well and proceed with your degree you know.
its a place you'll be just waiting to go away and never return. once you've left, you might even find ways to not come back to collect your fantastic results, if you've got fantastic results that is.
so, anyways, i have forbidden all the mentioned things that a normal human being would do for relaxation and completely focus on my studies though i dont really have to.
moving on, my lecturer..
haiyo.. i cant stand the sight of him la! he's damn bloody annoying. my friends would definitely know how i usually am towards educators. i DONT go against them or miss their classes on purposes.
(at least i dont do them now when i am studying in a college, though i used to when i was in school. *wink*)
but anyways, i DONT do that these days you know. and do you know something?! this stupid lecturer of mine, keeps treating me like a student who actually does such things you know. he keeps saying...
upon teaching a really tough sum... "this is why you should attend my lessons and not skip them and loiter around brickfields."
do you know that in a week, i only go to my mom's shop like twice, and the rest of the time i'm only at home or college? i dont even skip his lessons in the first place!
"you know dakshini, you should be like the rest and spend some extra time in college and not keep rushing to go back home all the time"
the only reason why i look as if i'm rushing all the time to go home right after lessons is because i have a MOTHER who has a busy schedule that comes all the way to just pick me up. unlike the rest who have cars and drive to college and most of them live in the hostel. i cant help it right? if you say that you are gonna finish your lessons at 4pm, you have to finish it at 4pm, or if you wish to extend it, you should just shut up and let me inform my mom to come a little later. if you dont do both, i have to rush and leave the class asap right?? you can expect me to just lepak in class while you teach and not be bothered about my mom waiting outside for so long right?!
if i ask him a question regarding a mathematical sum that i had difficulties solving... "why are you asking me such simple questions?? this means that you have not been revising and your base in mathematics is very weak! you're simply not a bright student. you definitely cannot get an A in you exam la."
FYI, i do not ask simple questions ok?! my maths is good (not that i am boasting) and that question is tough! when another student asks a bloody freaking simple question, he'll complete the whole thing without saying anything. but if it is, he'll make me and my question sound so stupid.
i really cant stand my college la. its so bloody annoying when you have a lecturer who keeps bullying you and treating you like dirt. i'm so bloody irritated. like i dont have other things to worry about and concentrate, these dumb asses have to put salt on my wounds.
damn this college and their screwed up lecturers.
nevertheless, there's always something good in a pile of crap. that would be my chemistry lecturer who i ahev nothing to complain about till this very date.

F1 - 2009
nevertheless, i took loads of pics, which was a small consolation for the crap race. :)
please note that these were pics from my camera while Yoga was driving at 120km/h on the way to sepang. trust me, the drive was so mmuch fun than the race itself. pffft.
i shall load the rest of the pics when Yoga decides to send me the pics from his camera.

pre-birthday
announcing my gift theme
to all (mostly uncles and aunts.. family) who have been asking me what i want for my birthday, i announced to them all that the theme for my gifts this year is sarees. so, yea. that was done and accomplished with about 50% success as not all of them wish to travel all the way to klang (has largest number of saree shops) to get me one.
anywho, announcing gift theme - check!
shopping
on monday, since it was a public holiday and my mom, sis and i were free, we decided to go for shopping to get my birthday clothes. and the location was - nichii fashion city. that would be because i was mainly going for formal clothing and not much fancy outfits as i've got loads of interviews to attend in IMU and all that. plus, dressing in IMU is formal only. *sigh*
at nichii, i bought myself 2 dresses and 2 happening blouses, courtesy of my sister and mom's sense of fashion. ;) the dresses were both black in colour and one of the blouses were green and the other was black too. i was quite shocked that my mom was okay with me getting black outfits for my birthday. but, what the heck? appreciate what you get!
shopping - check!
punjabi suits
no matter how much we've modernized ourselves, i always feel that we should never let go of our culture. that's why i personally make it a must to wear punjabi suit during the first half of my birthday at least and do some special prayers in a temple on the morning of the 12th. and yes, my mom got me a new punjabi suit for the morning prayer. its a beautiful white with gold linings and the fitting is perfecto!
punjabi suit - check!
hairy me
being born for a grandma (dad's side) who happens to be super hairy on the face, hands and legs, i have inherited that characteristic of hers. and the effects of being hairy? well..
- you've gotta withstand the agony of hot wax being poured on your legs and then ripped off with muslin cloth so that you can wear mircomini skirts and not look odd.
- you've gotta get nylon thread pulled against your upper lip so that strands of hair will be removed so that you dont look like a man disguising as a woman.
- you've gotta watch your mom use a blade to shave off strands of hair around your eyebrows that is millimetres away from your eyes.
yeap. that would be all you have to do if you're born for a grandma like mine.
anyways, waxing, threading and shaping eyebrow - check!
a little vanity
as much as i dont wanna sound like a superly spoilt child, i really love getting my nails done on special occasions. really. i find it really elegant and sometimes necessary. :D
i've painted both my toes and my fingernails a sweet pink this time. i really wanted to paint them all black with some white designs but as i suggested this to my mom, she nearly flipped. so, i thought of pleasing her a little and not getting killed before my birthday by choosing pink instead. its not that bad of a colour, though its not that nice of a colour compared to black. any which ways, i'm just happy that my nails are done. :D
manicure & pedicure session - check!
and that would be all of my yearly rituals.

another day of being sick
you know right, being sick definitely has its pros and cons. the pros would be;
- you can skip all your daily chores and nobody will come after you
- you can be in bed all day long and not feel guilty one bit
- you can order anybody aro0und to get your things done and no one will be offended
- you can ask for any food you want and those at home will actually make it for you
- you can look the worst ever and still it wouldnt matter to you
- you can really test how much a human being can sleep in a day
and of course, the cons would be;
- you will feel almost miserable
- if there has been something you've been looking forward to so much, you will definitely not have the mood to do it (i.e. my birthday celebration)
- you've gotta swallow the world's most bitter thing - medicine
- your head will not be able to be up for more than 20 minutes without getting a headache
- your grandma will come up with all the remedies in the world during this period of time and shove it down your thrat (at least mine does)
- at all times, you'll feel like an entire rugby team slammed themselves against you
yup, that would be all the pros and cons. without weighing them and stating them out, i somehow feel that the intensity of the cons is unbearable. i might as well go on with my daily chores and get scolded by everyone rather than to be in bed, sick. i really can't stand it wei. it gets on my nerves to be sick.
thaipoosam
today's thaipoosam. being an indian, i should be bloody happy about this and all dressed up to hit the road to batu caves. unfortunately, that's not exactly what i intend to do right now. thaipoosam has never really been my favourite festival. and that would be because of the crowd. i simply cannot endure a place that is so overly crowded. call me a spoilt child, but i feel claustrophobic almost immediately once i get there.
anyhow, i would like to wish Happy Thaipoosam to all the indians out there. hope all their prayers come true without any exception.
~i wanna feel better asap!~
