pre-birthday
my birthday is in 2 days time, day after tomorrow. and i have done a few things that happen to be yearly rituals.
announcing my gift theme
to all (mostly uncles and aunts.. family) who have been asking me what i want for my birthday, i announced to them all that the theme for my gifts this year is sarees. so, yea. that was done and accomplished with about 50% success as not all of them wish to travel all the way to klang (has largest number of saree shops) to get me one.
anywho, announcing gift theme - check!
shopping
on monday, since it was a public holiday and my mom, sis and i were free, we decided to go for shopping to get my birthday clothes. and the location was - nichii fashion city. that would be because i was mainly going for formal clothing and not much fancy outfits as i've got loads of interviews to attend in IMU and all that. plus, dressing in IMU is formal only. *sigh*
at nichii, i bought myself 2 dresses and 2 happening blouses, courtesy of my sister and mom's sense of fashion. ;) the dresses were both black in colour and one of the blouses were green and the other was black too. i was quite shocked that my mom was okay with me getting black outfits for my birthday. but, what the heck? appreciate what you get!
shopping - check!
punjabi suits
no matter how much we've modernized ourselves, i always feel that we should never let go of our culture. that's why i personally make it a must to wear punjabi suit during the first half of my birthday at least and do some special prayers in a temple on the morning of the 12th. and yes, my mom got me a new punjabi suit for the morning prayer. its a beautiful white with gold linings and the fitting is perfecto!
punjabi suit - check!
hairy me
being born for a grandma (dad's side) who happens to be super hairy on the face, hands and legs, i have inherited that characteristic of hers. and the effects of being hairy? well..
- you've gotta withstand the agony of hot wax being poured on your legs and then ripped off with muslin cloth so that you can wear mircomini skirts and not look odd.
- you've gotta get nylon thread pulled against your upper lip so that strands of hair will be removed so that you dont look like a man disguising as a woman.
- you've gotta watch your mom use a blade to shave off strands of hair around your eyebrows that is millimetres away from your eyes.
yeap. that would be all you have to do if you're born for a grandma like mine.
anyways, waxing, threading and shaping eyebrow - check!
a little vanity
as much as i dont wanna sound like a superly spoilt child, i really love getting my nails done on special occasions. really. i find it really elegant and sometimes necessary. :D
i've painted both my toes and my fingernails a sweet pink this time. i really wanted to paint them all black with some white designs but as i suggested this to my mom, she nearly flipped. so, i thought of pleasing her a little and not getting killed before my birthday by choosing pink instead. its not that bad of a colour, though its not that nice of a colour compared to black. any which ways, i'm just happy that my nails are done. :D
manicure & pedicure session - check!
and that would be all of my yearly rituals.

another day of being sick
day 2 of being sick
you know right, being sick definitely has its pros and cons. the pros would be;
- you can skip all your daily chores and nobody will come after you
- you can be in bed all day long and not feel guilty one bit
- you can order anybody aro0und to get your things done and no one will be offended
- you can ask for any food you want and those at home will actually make it for you
- you can look the worst ever and still it wouldnt matter to you
- you can really test how much a human being can sleep in a day
and of course, the cons would be;
- you will feel almost miserable
- if there has been something you've been looking forward to so much, you will definitely not have the mood to do it (i.e. my birthday celebration)
- you've gotta swallow the world's most bitter thing - medicine
- your head will not be able to be up for more than 20 minutes without getting a headache
- your grandma will come up with all the remedies in the world during this period of time and shove it down your thrat (at least mine does)
- at all times, you'll feel like an entire rugby team slammed themselves against you
yup, that would be all the pros and cons. without weighing them and stating them out, i somehow feel that the intensity of the cons is unbearable. i might as well go on with my daily chores and get scolded by everyone rather than to be in bed, sick. i really can't stand it wei. it gets on my nerves to be sick.
thaipoosam
today's thaipoosam. being an indian, i should be bloody happy about this and all dressed up to hit the road to batu caves. unfortunately, that's not exactly what i intend to do right now. thaipoosam has never really been my favourite festival. and that would be because of the crowd. i simply cannot endure a place that is so overly crowded. call me a spoilt child, but i feel claustrophobic almost immediately once i get there.
anyhow, i would like to wish Happy Thaipoosam to all the indians out there. hope all their prayers come true without any exception.
~i wanna feel better asap!~

i'm sick
yeap, as the title goes, I AM SICK. with the whole package of agonizing soarthroat, flu, super duper high fever, phlegm and cough. and guess what's the icing of the cake??
my birthday's next week!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggghhhhh!
this is really really annoying you know. i simply can't stand it. i'm supposed to have tuition today with ms.jaslin for bio and i had to cancel it because i'm sick. oh lord! why?!?! why me??!!

i have got absolutely no mood to do anything. eat, sleep, talk, walk, go anywhere. nope, nada. all i feel like doing right now is bang my head against the wall over and over again. that's all.

from college 2
i have decided to bring my lappy as often as i can to college as it looks like i've gotta wait at least half an hour everyday for shiva to be done with class so that we can go for lunch. i know i can go myself, but i really can't stand the idea of having lunch by myself in a restaurant. i completely dont mind the idea of buying back the food and eating in my classroom but the distance that i have to travel to do so and the cold temperature i have to endure isnt exactly to my liking. :)
anywho, i've got a mega achievement today!!
*dakshy does a small time celebration dance*
today, during biology class, we were divided into groups of 2 and i was with the class' smartest guy, tay kim siang a.k.a kim. our on-the-spot assignment was to do a presentation on the nephrons of the kidney, mainly the proximal convoluted tubule, which is the longest part of the chapter. we were the first to present.
so, kim volunteered to draw out the diagram for the selective reabsorption process of the PCT. then, mdm leela, my lecturer, told me to write out an essay on the PCT. and guess what?! i practically wrote a 200-word essay on the spot! without a pause and within about 5 mins only. my lecturer and the entire class were shocked! i didnt even have a book to refer to. it was bloody spontaneous. and i was so proud of myself and so was my lecturer.
looks like the kidney's gonna be my favourite chapter from here on! ;)
below would be a picture of half of the things i wrote. :D

i know i sound like i'm bragging, but this is something i never knew i could do in BIOLOGY! it was one hell of an achievement for me!
yoga's new apartment
yesterday, i went over to yoga's new apartment after college. as soon as i entered the apartment, i noticed one thing.. the walls are the exact same colour as the walls in my room! its a really really sweet yellow. and the rooms are one kind of a funny green. but its still green, so, i LOVE it! anyhow, the apartment is semi-furnished. it comes with airconds, lights and toilet accessories only. but otherwise, the apartment was really really nice. very well kept, not dusty, walls well painted.
when we dropped by too, yoga's room partner, suresh was there. and he was fixing his own 6 feet cupboard bought in ikea, by himself! oh my god! i was shocked! i never knew that there are people actually capable of this, except the carpenters of course. since suresh was struggling a little with the carrying and the fixing of the super duper heavy cupboard, yoga decided to help him.
and what was dakshy doing? well.. absolutely nothing! hehhe. it was so fun watching them work wei. they were constantly getting confused with the manual and turning it towards the wrong direction. hhaha. it was so so fun. and below would be a few pictures of them fixing it. oh yes, and i was taking photographs too. :D

yoga's back!
yoga went on a 2 week trip to india for some prayer purposes. and he came back yesterday! finally wei. those 2 weeks felt like an eternity! pheew! i'm glad its over. anyways, he got me a few things from india too. that would be;
a beautiful 2 toned saree
2 sets of really pretty anklets
a set of anti-nausea bands - he got me these bands that have special metal knobs to be worn on your wrists. it seems that if you actually put it on, your nausea will reduce. and he bought this because i constantly get nauseated for everything. hahha. he's damn cute la.
birthday bash
actually, to correct, its just birthday. not much of a "bash". that would be because, super-considerate-dakshy has decided to cut down on expenditure experienced by her parents. and the reason for that, would be, i'm gonna be doing my pharmacy in one of the most expensive universities and that's gonna cost a LOT.
anyways, coming back to the birthday thingy, i'm gonna have a small get-together at home with my extended family of cousins and relatives mostly. thought of getting a satay guy to grill some satay.. get some pizzas.. drinks.. pot luck food... junk food.. yea. that's practically it. i thought of going for a nice dinner on the eve of my birthday with my immediate family too. maybe, make a trip to genting highlands for a night. we'll just see what comes up.
i usually have a theme for my birthday gifts from my uncles and aunts who have no idea of what to get me. and the theme for year 2009 is..... sarees. i've asked them to get me sarees this year. it doesnt HAVE to be super expensive ones, but just simple ones to fill up my cupboard. :)
college
since my results for my first sem is out and i dont have to repeat any papers, i've decided to move on to the second semester of a-levels. this is where the head ache begins. the chapters are getting really really tough. even maths for the matter. every subject requires equal attention. last year, for my 1st sem, i completely ignored maths and did only last minute studying. but this year, looks like i cant even dream of doing such things. last minute studying is completely out.
plans
this sem will be going on for the next 6months, whereby, the exams come in may/june. after that, i'll have to move on to completing my LAN subjects. that'll take another month or so. once my LAN is done, i'll have to sit for an IELTS test carried out by the british council. this IELTS test happens to be one of the requirements before i get into IMU to do the Mpharm programme. i have got seriously NO idea about this thingy and i think i've gotta drop in to the british council one of these days to check on that.
ish ish. i hate all this nonsense la. cant i just join IMU without having to go through all this rubbish?! already i did a freaking long a-level programme and now, i must sit for another exam. haiyo. according to the brochure that i downloaded from the net, i'll actually have to study about it la. this is friggin' annoying.
gathering
valentine's gathering with my friends and i are getting closer and closer. i seriously cant wait for it. its been so long since we've met up and talked. the last time we met up in nando's, we were there for almost 4 hours, just talking about our lives.. past and present. it was so fun. and i have to remind myself to bring the camera la.
yoga's new job
yoga's got a new job and today was his first day. and his job is in mont kiara! which is like just about 15 mins from my college! he has also moved to an apartment in taman desa with his friend so that he doesnt have to get stuck in the cheras jam every morning to get to work. that would mean that i can do some interior designing, get a key to his apartment and drop by whenever i want! how fantastic is that???
ashie
i just realised that my cat ashie is quite a poser. kept on taking photographs of her the other day with my mobile and this is what it looked like.
ps: you can definitely skip this section if you're not a cat lover. no hard feelings taken into consideration. :)
